Apple Watch Series 10 Rumored to Bring Blood Pressure Monitoring, Leaving Older Models Behind

Last September, Apple released two new wearables: the Watch Series 9 and the Watch Ultra 2. Just like the previous versions, these smartwatches help users track their health right from their wrists. They monitor things like heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, activity, temperature, and more. According to rumors, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 10 will take things a step further by adding blood pressure monitoring. This would allow users to see trends in their blood pressure over time. This isn't a totally new feature – Samsung already offers similar functionality on their Galaxy Watch 5 and 6 models.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman believes the blood pressure monitoring will be exclusive to the Series 10. In his newsletter, he said, "It seems pretty likely the new Apple Watch will get a blood pressure checker this fall. But there's no sign that older watches will be able to use this feature with a software update." This suggests that the blood pressure monitoring requires new hardware, so older Apple Watches won't be able to get it even with an update.

An Apple Watch might soon allow users to monitor their blood pressure on their wrist, instead of relying on visits to the clinic. This could be a game-changer for people who need to track their blood pressure regularly. By keeping an eye on their readings throughout the day, users could identify trends and potential health issues much earlier.

It's worth noting that Apple wouldn't be the first company to offer this feature. Samsung already has blood pressure monitoring on their Galaxy Watch series, along with ECG readings. Huawei also offers a similar function with their Watch D.
