Warzone Mobile Launches Worldwide - Get Ready to Drop In!

 TL;DR

  • Call of Duty Warzone Mobile is now available on smartphones and tablets.
  • The game weighs in at 1.5GB, with an additional 5GB download upon booting up.
  • You’ll need an Android phone with at least 4GB of RAM and a relatively old GPU to play it.
  • Call of Duty fans rejoice! After a limited release period, Activision has unleashed the highly anticipated Call of Duty Warzone Mobile onto the world. The game is available for download on both Android and iOS devices.

Be prepared for a hefty download though. While the initial download for Warzone Mobile on Android is around 1.5GB, that's just the tip of the iceberg. You'll need an additional 5GB of free space before you can jump into the action.

But wait, there's more! The game promises to improve the visuals as you play by downloading high-resolution assets in the background. Unfortunately, as of now, there seems to be no option to manually download these graphics. This means you'll have to trust the game's streaming system to enhance the visuals, which can be a bit rough initially.

Warzone Mobile doesn't overwhelm you with graphics settings. You get a few options to choose from, like different quality levels (low, medium, high, and even a super-high "peak" setting), a battery saver mode, and a way to set the maximum frame rate (up to 60 frames per second, or unlimited). Here's the interesting part: my Pixel 7 Pro wouldn't let me use the lowest or highest quality settings at first. It seems like the best graphics might be exclusive to newer iPhones and iPads for now, according to the App Store listing.

If you've played Call of Duty Mobile or PUBG Mobile before, you'll pick this game up right away. It uses the same kind of touch controls (with the option for controllers too), and even throws in some practice matches with bots to help you get your bearings before facing real players.

Good news for Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 players! Activision confirmed that progress you make on the mobile version of Warzone will carry over to the console and PC versions of the game. This includes your experience level and any Battle Pass progress you've earned.

Wondering if your phone can handle the action? When the game first launched in limited release, Activision mentioned that Android devices need at least 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 618 GPU (usually found in phones with Snapdragon 720G processors or newer). That chip came out in mid-range phones in 2020, so there's a good chance your mid-range phone from the last few years can run it. Interestingly, the game even works on my Pixel 7 Pro which has a Mali GPU, even though they mentioned Adreno specifically. This suggests that phones with mid-range MediaTek or Exynos processors might be compatible too.
