Sony Xperia 1 VI Design Leak: Major Change Incoming?

 TL;DR

  • The design of the Sony Xperia 1 VI has leaked, showing the phone from all angles.
  • Leaked dimensions suggest Sony is doing away with the 21:9 aspect ratio.
  • The ZEISS branding is making a comeback, and so is the headphone jack.

Scoops are out! Images of the rumored Sony Xperia 1 VI just leaked, giving us a sneak peek at what Sony's next big phone might look like. Though Sony itself is staying quiet, reliable leak source OnLeaks (reported by Android Headlines) shared these renders, suggesting the phone could be a touch shorter but slightly wider and thicker than its predecessor.

The design seems to follow the same boxy style as the Xperia 1 V, with the familiar triple-lens camera on the back stacked vertically. Just like the older model, it appears to sport a ZEISS branding and, thankfully for audiophiles, a headphone jack at the top.

According to a leak, the upcoming Xperia 1 VI will have a 6.5-inch display and measure in at 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.4mm. This tweak in size might nudge the phone's aspect ratio to 19.5:9. We've heard rumors that Sony might ditch the signature 21:9 display this year, a first since launching the Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 lines back in 2019. If true, this change could disappoint Xperia fans who loved the 21:9 format for scrolling through social media (doomscrolling) or multitasking.

The news on the Xperia 1 VI is a bit thin right now. Last year, Sony unveiled the Xperia 1 V in May, so there's a chance we might see the new phone announced, or at least get a launch date confirmation, within the next few weeks.
